Aker Kvaerner, working as Aker Solutions – Sinopec in the case study, needed to migrate electrical plant data from Excel sheets and an MS-Access database into a SmartPlant Electrical environment. The challenge was to capture missing tags and mandatory attributes, build relationships from SLDs, and make the database compliant with YANSAB standards and applicable alerts.

Rolta International implemented a structured SmartPlant Electrical data migration and cleanup process, including auditing and modifying source data, creating a YANSAB-based data dictionary, defining plant-area-unit hierarchies, importing data with SPEL Import Manager, and filling gaps from drawings and as-built markups. Rolta International also generated SLDs and reports, improving data quality and consistency, enabling faster concurrent engineering, and producing deliverables more quickly, accurately, and automatically from the database.
