Zend Server Helps Online Learning Pioneer EnglishCentral Rapidly Deploy New Functionality

EnglishCentral, an online English‑language learning company, needed to rapidly and frequently deploy new features and simultaneously test multiple product branches for its browser‑based service. To support a distributed development team on AWS, EnglishCentral adopted Zend Server and Zend Framework from Rogue Wave Software to run its PHP applications and automate deployments.

Rogue Wave Software’s Zend Server provided automated deployment, clustering, a job queue and code‑tracing tools that let EnglishCentral move code quickly from QA to production, handle multiple branches at once, and run several apps on a single server — dramatically reducing server costs. The automation eliminated release bottlenecks that could make CI‑to‑production three to four times slower, sped up bug identification and resolution, and enabled more frequent, rapid iterations in response to testing.
