Marilan, a top-five Brazilian biscuit manufacturer, needed to automate its administrative systems and replace duplicative parallel controls (spreadsheets, forms and manual processes) with reliable, in-house applications. To build its Administrative System of Internal Controls (SACI) using PHP, Marilan selected Zend solutions — Zend Server and Zend Studio — provided by vendor Rogue Wave Software to support concurrent access, faster development and high availability.

Rogue Wave Software’s Zend Server and Zend Studio enabled Marilan to scale SACI to more than 100 daily modules, running 1,300 PHP scripts and over 800,000 lines of code (one app serves 300 users with ~20 concurrent accesses). The implementation reduced development time, increased system reliability and availability (server reboots dropped from 56 in 2008 to just 1 in 2011), lowered IT costs and delivered a measurable increase in ROI.
