Using PV-WAVE for Testing Cardiovascular Systems in Astronauts

RWTH Aachen’s Cardiovascular Laboratory needed to analyze large volumes of multi-channel physiological data from tilt-table, centrifuge and environmental tests to evaluate human cardiovascular performance for air and space travel. The lab required real-time signal monitoring, cross-platform off-line analysis, and standardized storage to handle analog, serial and parallel signals; to meet this challenge they used PV-WAVE from Rogue Wave Software.

Rogue Wave Software delivered PV-WAVE integrated with an HDF-based client–server architecture, real-time preprocessing and signal‑processing tools (filters, FFTs), GUI builders and extensive statistical routines to support 16 channels at 500 Hz (≈58 MB/hour). The solution enabled interactive visualization, simulation of test conditions, rapid off-line analysis and publication-ready output across UNIX, PC and Macintosh systems, improving throughput, data security and the speed and reliability of research decisions.
