UK-Based Retail Chain is a £17 billion, multinational retailer with more than 1,000 stores across Asia and Europe undergoing a multi-year IT transformation to implement SAP and build a single view of product and supply chain data. To enable a Group API Framework and Shared Services model while controlling access, load and security across hundreds of APIs, the company selected Rogue Wave Software’s Akana SaaS API Gateway to address API management, governance and developer workflow challenges.

Rogue Wave Software implemented the Akana API Gateway to centralize security, routing, policy hierarchies, real-time monitoring and analytics, and to protect against DoS and injection attacks while validating message content. The Gateway accelerated app development (supporting DevOps/CI‑CD), enabled easy deployment of API portals and SOAP-to-REST transformations, and allowed scalable, manageable Shared Services — deployed first in the UK and Ireland with broader rollout planned — supporting the retailer’s transformation that targets £500M annual savings by year five and reducing risk of outages and security incidents.
