SPIE Sud-Est, a regional infrastructure and transportation systems provider, faced the challenge of implementing a consistent, always-on traffic management system across multiple cities to accurately predict infrastructure utilization and support real-time control for the Lyon metropolitan area (1,360 km of roads, 7,300 intersections, peak 172,000 vehicles/hour). To address this, SPIE Sud-Est partnered with Rogue Wave Software and adopted Rogue Wave’s Visualization for C++, including the Visualization Server component.

Rogue Wave Software delivered highly interactive, pre-built GUI components and a shared in-memory Server framework that allowed SPIE Sud-Est to deploy a modular, open-standard CRITER system with phased rollouts and end-user-driven development. The Rogue Wave solution streamlined implementation, ensured consistent and predictable behavior across towns, and improved flexibility for adaptation—contributing to OPTICITIES’ cited potential 20% gain in road capacity while managing thousands of controllers, signs, cameras, and sensors.
