Risk Management Solutions (RMS), the world’s largest provider of natural hazard and catastrophe risk products, needed more efficient, proven optimization and multi-threading capabilities for its Climetrix weather-derivatives pricing application. To avoid spending time developing and maintaining in-house algorithms and to ensure stable, compatible routines for transforming weather data into prices, RMS evaluated and adopted the IMSL C Library from Rogue Wave Software.

Rogue Wave Software’s IMSL C numerical libraries were integrated into Climetrix by replacing several custom subroutines, delivering tried-and-tested algorithms with seamless compatibility and no reported bugs. The RMS team reports improved stability and reliability, expects ongoing time and cost savings as they deploy more IMSL routines, and anticipates the same benefits for other RMS groups working on catastrophe, earthquake, and flood models.
