Case Study: Raytheon achieves rapid legacy-code understanding and faster delivery with Rogue Wave Software's Klocwork

A Rogue Wave Software Case Study

Preview of the Raytheon Case Study

Overcoming the challenges of reusing legacy code in the defence and aerospace sector

Raytheon faced the challenge of reusing and modernizing large, acquired legacy codebases where original developers were no longer available, and needed a way to visualize architecture, analyze source, run “what if” scenarios, and test messaging within a proprietary operating environment. To address this, Raytheon turned to Rogue Wave Software’s Klocwork static analysis tools to automatically extract graphical views of software design and provide immediate understanding of interfaces, relationships and logic flow.

Rogue Wave Software’s Klocwork solution was implemented in under a week and enabled analysis of 70,000 lines of code in under an hour (a task that previously took a week), and reduced another project from six weeks to two. Used on an aircraft multimode radar and a ground vehicle sensor program, the tools let Raytheon run feasibility tests, validate parallel mode operation and sensor integration, accelerate new-team onboarding, boost productivity, and deliver stronger products to customers more quickly.
