Notre Dame Physics Professor Selects PV-WAVE® Visualization Software for Publication Quality Graphics

The University of Notre Dame’s Department of Physics needed a way for students to analyze large experimental datasets and produce publication-quality, portable graphics across a multi-platform computing environment. To address this, the department adopted PV-WAVE and the IMSL Fortran Library from Rogue Wave Software to support 3D visualization, EPS output, and advanced numerical routines.

Rogue Wave Software’s PV-WAVE/IMSL solution delivered a multi-platform, backward-compatible visualization and numerical environment used on Solaris and Linux for tasks such as non-linear curve fitting and special functions, backed by responsive technical support. The implementation improved classroom instruction and research productivity and contributed to roughly 100 refereed papers since 1990, becoming integral to Professor Blackstead’s teaching and research.
