North American Bank, one of the largest commercial banks in the U.S., needed to modernize merchant payment and core services as part of a broader digital transformation. Faced with organizational, cultural and technical resistance and a goal to reduce time-to-first-transaction and improve developer adoption, the bank partnered with Rogue Wave Software and adopted Rogue Wave’s API management platform to standardize API design, onboarding and security.

Rogue Wave Software implemented a hybrid API platform to design and document APIs, automate partner onboarding, apply consistent security, transform legacy SOAP services to REST and aggregate services into new APIs. The bank’s merchant payment developer portal went live at the end of 2014, enabling “One and Done” cross-selling from a single screen, accelerating onboarding, generating incremental revenue through streamlined integrations, supporting PCI DSS compliance, and spurring innovation via hackathons hosted since 2015.
