Naval Research Laboratory, U.S. Navy - Customer Case Study

The Naval Research Laboratory, U.S. Navy, needed a faster, more usable way to analyze large volumes of SSM/I satellite data and track tropical cyclones. Their in-house tools were robust but time-consuming for batch reprocessing, multi-image displays, recentering storm centers and archiving results, so they selected Rogue Wave Software's PV-WAVE for its powerful visualization and rapid-development capabilities.

Rogue Wave Software’s PV-WAVE was combined with NRL applications to create the TROPX processing and visualization system, enabling a searchable database of more than 2,000 tropical cyclone images and derived products such as wind speed and rain rate. PV-WAVE widgets cut GUI prototype time from hours or days to minutes, saved the team hundreds of development hours, and materially improved the lab’s ability to visualize, classify and archive storms to support operational tracking.
