Case Study: Iskratel achieves faster, more accurate bug detection with Rogue Wave Software (Klocwork)

A Rogue Wave Software Case Study

Preview of the Iskratel Case Study

Managing growing code complexity by fi nding bugs early in the development process

Iskratel, a global telecommunications provider with over 400 developers producing applications of roughly 1–1.5 million lines of code, needed a way to find and eliminate defects early in the development lifecycle. After a competitive evaluation of three tools, Iskratel selected Klocwork® from Rogue Wave Software as the static-analysis solution to address buffer overflows, architectural issues, memory leaks and other hard-to-find defects.

Rogue Wave Software’s Klocwork was integrated into Iskratel’s VxWorks/Tornado and Linux makefile-based environment and run against a 40,000‑line benchmark; it identified an order of magnitude more relevant bugs than competitors, provided faster analysis (comparable to the GNU compiler), superior UI and architecture views, and quickly located an elusive infinite‑loop defect that otherwise would have consumed several man‑weeks — directly improving developer productivity and reducing time spent on manual reviews.
