Magento e-commerce application gets fitness boost with Zend

Basic Research, a Salt Lake City company whose products are sold through more than 17,000 retail outlets worldwide, wanted to improve its web presence to build brand awareness, educate consumers, and drive online sales. After adopting PHP-based Magento for e-commerce, the company needed a platform that could support customization, optimization, and scale across its websites. Basic Research chose Rogue Wave Software’s Zend PHP tools to support that effort.

Basic Research implemented Zend Studio IDE and Zend Server from Rogue Wave Software for development, monitoring, optimization, scale-up, and troubleshooting. During a pilot, Zend Server caching produced an immediate 25-30% improvement in responsiveness, and the company later met its targets for response times, availability, and conversions within the first six months. Basic Research also launched six active websites on Zend Server, met a December 30 integration deadline after starting on December 7, and kept response times crisp during traffic spikes from TV advertising.
