Large Healthcare Provider was facing a mandated and market-driven push to digitize: meet Meaningful Use/API requirements, enable real-time interoperability (HL7 FHIR), rationalize many siloed applications, and cut costs while improving patient-facing services. To address these challenges they selected Rogue Wave Software and deployed its Akana Platform as the foundation for an enterprise API and interoperability strategy.

Rogue Wave Software implemented an on‑premises Akana Platform and professional services engagement to build an interoperable HL7 FHIR server (based on HAPI FHIR), providing lifecycle management, automated DevOps, audit/logging, a policy‑driven API gateway, branded developer portals, and multi‑tenancy. The platform reached production in March 2016, onboarded multiple REST, SOAP and MQ APIs, delivered governance recommendations, and set the organization on track to consolidate four FHIR instances into a scalable enterprise server—accelerating time‑to‑market while improving security, auditability and interoperability.
