A Rogue Wave Software Case Study
IMSL C Numerical Libraries was tasked with supporting LABRADOR, a signal‑processing application used to identify and attribute radiated noise sources on submarines, where even tiny acoustic signatures can be critical. Facing the need for robust FFTs, complex‑vector math, spectral matrix formation and interactive, publication‑quality graphics on Sun and HP workstations, they turned to Rogue Wave Software and its IMSL C Numerical Library (with Exponent Graphics) to provide proven numerical and plotting building blocks.
Rogue Wave Software supplied the IMSL C Numerical Library routines (FFTs, complex vector operations, matrix and spectral analysis) and graphical/output capabilities that were integrated into LABRADOR’s three‑window UI. The result was faster development and lower costs by reusing trusted numerical and plotting components, interactive spectral synthesis and source‑identification displays, and reliable HPGL/PostScript output—enabling engineers to isolate and even remove identified noise sources from spectra and accelerate diagnostic workflows.
