A Rogue Wave Software Case Study
Global Communications Company, a provider of voice, data and video services, faced rising CORBA licensing costs and platform limitations for its C++ Line Validation and Administration System (LVAS), which was split into seven CORBA-connected executables. To modernize communications and expand platform support while preserving existing C++ logic, the company selected Rogue Wave Software’s HydraExpress to move the system to web services.
Using Rogue Wave Software’s HydraExpress, the team converted IDL to WSDL, generated client and server skeletons, and replaced CORBA bindings with web service interfaces so the seven LVAS components could interoperate across new hardware and platforms. The migration kept business logic intact, reduced licensing and maintenance costs, improved throughput and stability, and—three years post‑implementation—delivered significantly higher performance and ongoing cost-effectiveness compared with the prior CORBA implementation.
