Global Bank Creating and optimizing revenue channels with APIs

Global Bank, a multi-national banking corporation, needed new revenue channels and ways to optimize existing ones by opening its core banking applications to partners and developers. To meet business goals while complying with international regulations such as PSD2 and the UK Open Data Initiative, the bank selected Rogue Wave Software and deployed the Akana Platform as the foundation for its API strategy.

Rogue Wave Software implemented an on‑premises API Platform and Developer Network (Akana Platform) with multi-layer security, HSM integration, and a flexible developer portal to enable automation, innovation, and co-creation with partners. The platform went live in production (March 2016), with one API enabling real‑time corporate payments—replacing outdated batch processing, improving customer experience and processing throughput—and a public Developer Network launch and expanded API onboarding planned to drive further growth.
