Fraunhofer-Institute fur Graphische Datenverarbeitung created VISMAR to visualize and interpret large, heterogeneous marine environmental datasets and needed a fast, flexible system for interactive geographic 2D/3D visualization and multi-format data import. Rogue Wave Software’s PV-WAVE was used to build the VISMAR system to meet those requirements.

Rogue Wave Software’s PV-WAVE (with IMSL libraries) powers VISMAR’s interactive map design, 2D/3D scientific visualization, multi-format data import, intuitive GUI and context-sensitive help. The system converts diverse data into an internal format, lets users select subsets for display, and saves analysis sessions as PV-WAVE procedures to automate routine workflows and produce metafiles; the result is much faster visualization and analysis of marine data, automated repetitive tasks, publication-ready outputs, and significant productivity gains (vendor cites IMSL can reduce programming time by up to 95%).
