Case Study: Sunstate Equipment achieves mobile, streamlined rental workflows and faster fleet turnaround with Rogue Wave Software

A Rogue Wave Software Case Study

Preview of the Sunstate Equipment Case Study

Enhancing enterprise efficiency with an agile workflow solution

Sunstate Equipment, a top-ten U.S. rental company, faced an aging workflow built on "green screen" applications and paper forms that forced mechanics to leave work bays to check inventory and manage repairs, with no enterprise visibility across its 62 locations. To modernize this process, Sunstate partnered with Rogue Wave Software, leveraging the vendor’s Zend PHP application platform (Zend Server) to update the existing DB2‑based logic without a full rewrite.

Rogue Wave Software implemented a mobile Material Management System running on high‑performance IBM Power Systems, delivering web-based apps and handheld tablet interfaces so mechanics can create work orders, order parts and update status from the bay. The solution preserved existing business logic, improved processing speed by an estimated 10× on POWER8 hardware, enabled automated purchasing and better labor tracking (notably at the Phoenix site), increased fleet uptime and faster turnover, and produced clear cost savings and quick ROI.
