Cisco Uses Zend PHP Solution to Improve WebEx Products Free-Trial Experience and Win Online Conferencing Customers

Cisco WebEx, part of Cisco Systems, needed to modernize and scale its free 14-day trial-offer platform to better support partners and speed sign-ups (previously taking 2–3 days). Facing inefficient, hard-to-maintain legacy code, WebEx engaged Rogue Wave Software and its PHP toolset (Zend Studio, Zend Server and Zend Framework) to build a more automated, self-service trial and marketing platform.

Rogue Wave Software implemented a new trial-offer platform, mobile site and internal project tools using the Zend PHP stack, adding session clustering, job queuing, centralized monitoring and code tracing. The solution improved trial sign-up speed by 68% (best time to complete signup), enabled 20–30% code reuse, accelerated time to market by about 1.5 months per project, cut page-load times by ~30%, and increased provisioning reliability for Cisco WebEx.
