Case Study: AVM achieves reduced development time and improved code quality with Rogue Wave Software (Klocwork Insight)

A Rogue Wave Software Case Study

Preview of the AVM Case Study

Bringing advanced static analysis capabilities to a complex and constantly changing software code base

AVM, the Berlin-based ADSL manufacturer with around 200 in-house software developers, needed to manage a complex, constantly changing firmware codebase that supports many hardware variants for its Fritz!Box routers. To introduce advanced static analysis into this customized build environment and shorten development time, AVM evaluated and adopted Rogue Wave Software’s Klocwork (deployed initially with support from Emenda).

Rogue Wave Software’s Klocwork integrated smoothly into AVM’s setup (starting with 10 licences and later upgraded to 50 licences of Klocwork Insight) and uncovered numerous bugs in both homegrown and open-source components. The solution improved code quality, enabled developers to find and fix issues before check-in, provided useful metrics for managing development, and contributed to reduced development time — prompting AVM to expand its Klocwork deployment.
