Penelakut Tribe cuts medical transport from 4+ hours to 7 minutes with Rogers

The Penelakut Tribe, a remote island community in British Columbia, faced significant logistical challenges in transporting time-sensitive medical supplies and lab specimens due to their reliance on a limited ferry schedule, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Partnering with Rogers and leveraging its cellular LTE network, the tribe sought a solution to overcome this access gap and ensure reliable delivery of critical healthcare items.

Rogers provided the robust cellular connectivity required for InDro Robotics drones to successfully operate beyond visual line of sight. Using the Rogers network enabled real-time video streaming and communication for the drones, which reduced transport time for medical samples from over four hours to just seven minutes. This solution from Rogers ensured specimens would not spoil, freed up staff resources, and provided the community with a reliable new connection for receiving PPE and medical supplies.
