Case Study: Tyson Foods achieves reliable manufacturing intelligence with Rockwell Automation

A Rockwell Automation Case Study

Preview of the Tyson Case Study

Modern HMI Provides Manufacturing Intelligence

Tyson Foods, one of the world’s largest meat and poultry producers, was struggling with an aging HMI and control system at its New London, Wisconsin plant. Weekly software crashes caused downtime, loss of production visibility, and risks to USDA reporting, creating extra work for operations and IT staff. Rockwell Automation’s FactoryTalk and Integrated Architecture solutions were used to address the challenge.

Rockwell Automation implemented a new control and information system using Logix, FactoryTalk View Site Edition, FactoryTalk Historian, and FactoryTalk VantagePoint. The project, completed in six months, eliminated weekly crashes, restored real-time visibility and reporting, and improved alarm notifications. Tyson also saved $100,000 in wastewater chemicals by using the new data and analytics to identify process inefficiencies.
