Madison Area Technical College Bridges Skills Gap for Manufacturers

Madison Area Technical College needed to close a skills gap for local manufacturers that were increasingly using advanced automation equipment, while also overcoming outdated perceptions of manufacturing among students and parents. To better prepare entry-level technicians and retrain workers, the college worked with Rockwell Automation on its automated manufacturing program and training curriculum.

Rockwell Automation helped Madison Area Technical College standardize its program on Rockwell Automation curriculum, equipment, workstations, and training materials, and added a maintainer certificate recognition to increase student appeal. The partnership helped produce job-ready graduates in high demand: employers reported wanting to hire interns after graduation, the school saw weekly or daily employer inquiries, and the region had close to 1,000 related job openings.
