Loparex Keeps Production Running With Sag-Correction System

Loparex, one of the world’s largest producers of release liners, was facing repeated voltage sag events at its Hammond, Wisconsin facility that were disrupting production on its largest coating line. The sags caused downtime, waste, and lost output, costing the company about $100,000 annually. To better understand the problem, Loparex used Rockwell Automation’s i-Sense and i-Grid Intelligent Network System.

Rockwell Automation then helped Loparex implement Allen-Bradley Dynamic Sag Corrector (DySC) products at key control panels and on the plant air compressor. The solution let the line ride through about 90% of sag events, reduced sag-related downtime by 90%, and saved about $90,000 per year. The system paid for itself in less than a year, exceeding the company’s original recovery target.
