Case Study: Ford achieves rapid conveyor recommissioning with Rockwell Automation

A Rockwell Automation Case Study

Preview of the Ford Case Study

Keeping the Parts Moving at Ford Plant in Cologne

Ford in Cologne needed help recommissioning a relocated conveyor system with more than 100 conveyors, while replacing outdated control infrastructure and meeting a very tight production deadline. Rockwell Automation, working with a local systems integrator, supported the project using the automotive MCP standard and Allen-Bradley control technology.

Rockwell Automation implemented a new Logix-based control solution with an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PAC, POINT I/O, and PanelView HMI, plus expert GITC support. The first conveyors were programmed in just three and a half days, the SI took over after four and a half days, and the full installation reached automatic mode over a single weekend. The line is now fully operational and has since been extended, with Ford benefiting from a standard, globally transferable controls platform.
