A Rockwell Automation Case Study
Optima Machinery Corporation needed a more flexible, high-speed packaging system to meet growing demand for varied hygiene-product formats and to reduce the downtime caused by frequent changeovers. Its older belt-based machine required significant re-engineering for size changes, creating cumulative delays when multiple format changes occurred per shift.
Rockwell Automation implemented an iTRAK Intelligent Track System solution with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PAC, Kinetix 6000 servo drives, PanelView Plus 7 HMI, and EtherNet/IP networking. Rockwell Automation helped Optima cut format changeover time by up to 50%—about 15 minutes per change—while improving OEE, increasing product/format flexibility, and reducing operator intervention by eliminating multiple mechanical adjustments.
