Gunjang Energy Deploys Medium Voltage Drives Solution To Reduce Energy

Gunjang Energy, a heat supply facility in Gunsan, South Korea, needed to improve energy utilization, keep operations stable, and achieve ROI within two years as rising energy costs made quick savings a priority. The company also wanted to automate a new fan application without interrupting plant activity, and chose Rockwell Automation’s PowerFlex® 7000 medium voltage drives to replace older damper-based airflow control.

Rockwell Automation installed PowerFlex 7000 drives on three existing ID fans, enabling more precise control, stable commissioning, and a compact fit in limited space. The project delivered a 20% improvement in energy efficiency, reduced installation time to three months, cut the ROI period from two years to one, and generated estimated annual savings of US$682,000, with projected yearly savings of $1.76 million.
