Gancia Bubbly Acquires New Lease of Life Thanks to PlantPAx DCS

Gancia, the historic Italian winery, wanted to modernize its sparkling wine process control and improve visibility, reliability, and decision-making across a production area that accounts for most of its output. The company needed a solution that was easy to use and maintain, could integrate with existing systems, and be deployed quickly ahead of harvest. Gancia selected Rockwell Automation, using the PlantPAx DCS with implementation support from Progecta.

Rockwell Automation implemented a PlantPAx Distributed Control System on an EtherNet/IP network, replacing the legacy control setup and connecting the sparkling cellar into a wider plant-wide control strategy. The result was full process monitoring, real-time alerts, remote troubleshooting, reduced cabling, and better maintenance planning. Gancia reported improved diagnostics, greater visibility, and stronger decision-making, with 24/7 monitoring of key parameters and less risk of unplanned downtime.
