Frames Creates Fully Autonomous Wellsite Skids Thanks to PlantPAx DCS

The Frames Group, through its Frames Flow Control & Safeguarding unit, needed to build nine autonomous well-site control and safety skids for the Nawara oil field in Tunisia that could run remotely with minimal operator interaction. The company turned to Rockwell Automation and its PlantPAx DCS, along with AADvance safety control, to create an integrated control-and-safety solution for the skids.

Rockwell Automation delivered ATEX-certified controllers, I/O, Ethernet switches, panel PCs, and Operator Workstations, plus AADvance programmable safety controllers for ESD protection. The result was a fully autonomous, solar-powered skid with simpler installation, easier integration with third-party and ESD equipment, and a compact single-skid design that saved space and costs while making the systems effectively plug-and-play.
