Fonterra, the multinational dairy co-operative, needed a complete automation and process control solution for a new European ingredients plant in the Netherlands, but had to get it running in just 12 months. To meet the tight schedule and align the site with Fonterra’s global standards, it turned to Rockwell Automation and a single-supplier, Connected Enterprise-ready approach.

Rockwell Automation implemented an integrated solution with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PACs, CENTERLINE 2500 motor control centres, PowerFlex drives, and FactoryTalk software. The result was a fully integrated, standardized system with advanced diagnostics, remote MCC access, and one software suite; Fonterra also reported lower total cost of ownership, easier maintenance and spares management, and the ability to restart equipment from the control room instead of at the MCC.
