Dalian Metro System Uses Energy Intelligence, Cuts Energy Usage by 12%

Dalian Metro System, facing rising ridership, weather swings, and the need to better control HVAC, lighting, safety signage, elevators, and other electrical systems across its citywide network, turned to Rockwell Automation for help. The metro needed a centralized way to reduce energy use while keeping passengers comfortable across more than 50 stations.

Rockwell Automation implemented the FactoryTalk software suite, including FactoryTalk Historian, FactoryTalk View Site Edition, and FactoryTalk VantagePoint, integrated with the existing CompactLogix control infrastructure. This gave operators better data collection, reporting, and visibility at the station and OCC levels, helping Dalian Metro project a 12% reduction in energy consumption and about 2% annual cost savings.
