A Rockwell Automation Case Study
Cosma International, an Italian machine builder serving the white goods and appliance industry, needed to develop a 64-axis washing machine chassis line with a 15-second cycle time and high precision. To meet this challenge, Cosma worked with Rockwell Automation using a connected control and visualization architecture for the new line.
Rockwell Automation implemented an integrated EtherNet/IP-based solution with Kinetix 5700 servo drives, MP-Series servo motors, PowerFlex 525 drives, ControlLogix and GuardLogix controllers, POINT I/O, Stratix switches, and Studio 5000 software. The result was a compact, scalable, and versatile line that simplified engineering, saved cabinet space, enabled direct IT connectivity and mobile operator access, and supported 24/7 remote assistance while helping the customer produce 240 washing machines per hour and 1,800 parts per daily shift.
