A Rockwell Automation Case Study
C3 Corporation, a Wisconsin-based equipment manufacturer, needed a better way to manage inventory and material handling as manufacturers and warehouses faced growing pressure from e-commerce and space constraints. The company wanted to reduce downtime caused by inefficient material delivery and improve space utilization in smaller, high-density facilities, so it developed an automated pick and place gantry system with Rockwell Automation solutions.
Rockwell Automation provided an integrated control system featuring an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix controller, PowerFlex 755 AC drives, and PanelView Plus 7 terminal. The solution enabled automated, just-in-time material delivery and safer, more precise load handling, while helping C3 replace forklifts or AGVs and expand storage vertically. The first system was installed in one week, met initial cycle-time targets immediately, and within two weeks exceeded expectations by running at more than 175 feet per minute and completing a cycle every 30 to 40 seconds.
