Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. Migrates Network and Control

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) needed to replace its outdated legacy control system and networks at the Calciner & Marine Terminal, but had to do so with minimal disruption to a 24/7 operation. The plant’s obsolete PLCs, HMI systems, and legacy communications were difficult to maintain and had already contributed to production outages, creating an urgent need for a more reliable, supportable upgrade from Rockwell Automation.

Rockwell Automation implemented a phased migration to a modern Integrated Architecture solution using ControlLogix PACs, Stratix switches, PanelView Plus HMIs, EtherNet/IP networking, and FactoryTalk AssetCentre. The project modernized 33 systems, standardized the software infrastructure, and reduced downtime risk from legacy failures; as a result, Alba now has up-to-date automation technology, greater flexibility for future expansion, and improved uptime and maintainability.
