Univention - Customer Case Study

Univention, a provider of Univention Corporate Server (UCS) and the Univention App Center, needed an open, centrally managed identity solution that could connect messaging services to existing Active Directory environments and provide single sign‑on across devices. To address internal collaboration and reduce communication overhead, Univention partnered with Rocket.Chat to bring the Rocket.Chat messaging platform into the UCS ecosystem as an easy‑to‑install app.

Rocket.Chat delivered an App Center package that uses the official Rocket.Chat and MongoDB Docker images and is preconfigured to leverage UCS’s identity stack (OpenLDAP, Samba 4, simpleSAMLphp, Kopano Konnect). The Rocket.Chat app automatically connects to the UCS LDAP for authentication, supports AD integration and SSO scenarios, and is deployable via pre‑built virtual appliances—giving administrators centralized user and access management through the Univention Management Console and simplifying deployment and identity workflows across organizations.
