Rocket.Chat accelerates collaboration at Southeastern Louisiana University

Southeastern Louisiana University adopted Rocket.Chat to solve fragmented internal communication across its technology development teams. After trying ICQ, Google Chat, Slack and other freeware, the university needed a free, locally hosted, configurable platform that could integrate with Active Directory (LDAP); Rocket.Chat was chosen as the open-source solution to provide cohesive, centralized collaboration.

Rocket.Chat was deployed on a VM with MongoDB and integrated with GitLab and Active Directory automation, enabling channel-based updates and reducing email clutter. The platform achieved near 100% team adoption, with about 60 active members sending over 44,000 messages across 300 rooms/channels and 200 direct-message rooms, improving cross-team collaboration, speeding idea exchange and development time, and increasing overall participation and productivity.
