Dover Saddlery Powers Online Growth and Expansion

Dover Saddlery, a retail specialist in equestrian products, needed to support rapid expansion from a single store into a growing multichannel business while managing a complex inventory of about 30,000 SKUs. The company also needed a database platform flexible enough to handle store operations, catalog sales, and online orders with a very small IT staff. Rocket Software’s Rocket mvBase DBMS was used to support this growth.

Rocket Software implemented Rocket mvBase to power Dover Saddlery’s retail database and ordering processes, helping the company manage complex SKU structures, inventory updates, and hourly order uploads across stores and warehouses. The results were significant: Dover scaled from one store to 31 stores in 19 states, reached $120M in revenue, supported more than 30,000 SKUs with only five IT professionals, and could roll out updates to all stores within hours without disrupting production.
