Case Study: OSIC-CARBONE achieves rapid custom orthotics production with Robotmaster

A Robotmaster Case Study

Preview of the OSIC-CARBONE Case Study

Robotmaster software is used to create an automated way of producing custom orthotics using milling robots

OSIC-CARBONE, a subsidiary of Orthopedie Bontoux, specializes in manufacturing and adapting orthopedic and prosthetic apparatus and needed a faster, more flexible way to produce custom orthotics. The company faced a demanding challenge: every product was a one-off, parts ranged from a few centimetres to two metres, and it needed to move from patient measurement to robot-ready program transfer in under 20 minutes.

To meet these requirements, OSIC-CARBONE implemented Robotmaster CAD/CAM for robots to program milling robots for customized orthotics production. With Robotmaster, the team reduced programming time to less than one minute, achieved accurate first-time robot trajectories, and increased material removal speed to 800 mm/sec. The result was over 3,000 unique products delivered in less than two years, and the company later began offering its turnkey robotic orthopedics milling solution to others in the industry.
