Robot programming software addresses complex material removal application

AV&R Robotics, a leader in industrial automation for complex machining processes, needed a faster way to program a highly complex aircraft engine combustion chamber de-burring workcell. Their manual teach-pendant approach required about 900 man-hours and a team of five engineers, creating delays in new product introduction. Robotmaster was brought in to help streamline robot programming for this demanding material removal application.

AV&R Robotics implemented Robotmaster, the CAD/CAM software from Robotmaster, to generate off-line 6-axis robot programs directly from CAD files. The result was programming completed in half the time with only two people on the first project, with AV&R expecting up to 75% time savings on future jobs. Robotmaster also improved precision, simplified changes, enabled off-line programming without stopping production, and let AV&R’s design technicians take on robot path programming tasks more efficiently.
