Offline Programming Software is Single Solution for Robotic Hammer Peening of Automotive Stamping Dies

Daimler, the automotive manufacturer behind Mercedes-Benz, wanted to automate the polishing of large stamping dies used for sheet metal forming. Manual polishing was slow, labor-intensive, and inconsistent, so Daimler needed a more precise and flexible robot programming solution. They turned to Robotmaster CAD/CAM for Robots offline programming software to tackle the challenge of programming robotic hammer peening and other die-shop processes.

Robotmaster worked with Daimler on a custom offline programming solution for a KUKA robot cell, handling millions of path points, external axes, singularities, collision detection, and robot motion optimization. The result was a 70% reduction in programming time, cutting one workpiece from 12 hours to 3.5 hours, while enabling multifunctional robotic cells for hammer peening, laser hardening, laser cladding, milling, drilling, and induction hardening.
