A Robotmaster Case Study
Johnson Wellfield Quarries (JWQ), part of the Myers Group in Huddersfield, is a long-established sandstone quarry that wanted to expand its ability to produce highly shaped, sustainable natural stone for demanding architectural projects such as the Tudor Square redevelopment in Sheffield. To meet the challenge, JWQ looked for a bespoke robotic machining approach and selected Robotmaster CAD/CAM software as part of a 6-axis robotic solution.
Robotmaster, working with Staubli robots and CR Solutions, helped JWQ convert complex CAD designs into robot toolpaths for three RX270 6-axis machining robots. The new system enabled precise sculpting and surface texturing of stone that would be difficult or impossible with traditional methods, while also improving workplace safety by removing pneumatic chisel vibration risks and hazardous manual stone-mason work.
