A Robotiq Case Study
Saint-Gobain, a global glass manufacturer, sought to automate a complex and physically grueling glass polishing process at its plant in France. The challenge was to free employees from this repetitive task and overcome the difficulty of programming a robot for many small production series. They partnered with Robotiq to find a solution using the Robotiq FT-300 Force Torque Sensor.
Robotiq's solution utilized the FT-300 sensor's path recording function, which allowed an operator to manually guide the robot through the polishing motion for the Universal Robots UR10 to record and replicate. This collaboration eliminated a major source of musculoskeletal injuries for the operator. The implementation resulted in a 30% increase in productivity, enabling Saint-Gobain to handle more orders.
