Peer Robotics builds vision-first AMRs in a week with Roboflow

Peer Robotics, a company building collaborative autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for manufacturing and warehousing, faced the challenge of creating robots that could understand and adapt to complex, real-world environments to automate material movement. To give their robots the necessary contextual awareness to handle unpredictable visual edge cases, they turned to vendor Roboflow for its AI-assisted annotation and cloud model training services.

Using Roboflow, Peer Robotics rapidly built and continuously improved custom computer vision models for pallet detection. The solution involved an active learning loop where edge cases encountered in the field were automatically uploaded to Roboflow to fine-tune the models. This allowed their AMRs to achieve high-precision docking and adapt to new facilities quickly, with the ability to deploy a fine-tuned model within a single day, ensuring reliable operation in diverse and challenging warehouse conditions.
