Infrastructure Malta, responsible for managing Malta's extensive road network, faced significant challenges with its traditional, expensive, and time-consuming road condition surveys. They partnered with RoadMetrics AI to pilot an innovative solution using the RoadMetrics smartphone-based data collection app and AI assessment service to modernize their approach.

RoadMetrics AI implemented a cost-effective system where surveys were conducted using smartphones, and its AI analyzed the data to identify road defects and assets. The results were seamlessly integrated into Infrastructure Malta's iROADS system. This provided actionable insights, automated a Road Maintenance Index for prioritization, and enhanced their asset inventory with over 5,000 cataloged road signs. The successful pilot led to a license extension in 2024.
