Redland City Council Trials RoadMetrics AI for Asset Capture

Redland City Council, located in Southeast Queensland, Australia, faced the challenge of maintaining an outdated and unreliable digital inventory for its vast network of road assets. Traditional manual survey methods were too slow and inefficient, hindering effective maintenance planning. To address this, the council partnered with RoadMetrics AI for a trial of their asset capture technology.

RoadMetrics AI implemented a solution using a smartphone-based app and AI system to capture high-resolution imagery and GPS data across 300 km of road. This provided a comprehensive and verified asset inventory, which was integrated into the council’s Assetic management system. The results revealed that approximately 50% of signage data was missing in a sample area, highlighting the critical need for the update. The project successfully created an accurate spatial baseline, eliminated inefficient work orders, and positioned RoadMetrics AI to play a central role in the council's ongoing data improvement program.
