Eurovia/Ringway performs a POC with RoadMetrics AI for Hertfordshire County Council

Eurovia/Ringway, a UK-based road infrastructure services joint venture, needed a more efficient method to assess the condition of the road network they maintain for Hertfordshire County Council. Their challenge was performing extensive annual assessments to support both preventive and reactive maintenance. They performed a proof-of-concept with RoadMetrics AI to test the suitability and accuracy of their AI-based road inspection system.

RoadMetrics implemented a solution where Eurovia/Ringway used a smartphone app to collect and upload nearly 700 km of road survey video. The RoadMetrics AI system then processed this data, delivering results in under seven days through a web-based GIS application. The analysis showed an 88% correlation with manual inspections, accurately identifying road defects and enabling the team to effectively pinpoint areas needing investigation.
