Case Study: General Mills achieves 42% more storage capacity with RMH Systems' pallet flow and pushback rack solution

A RMH Systems, Inc. Case Study

General Mills boosts storage capacity 42% with RMH Systems

General Mills faced a challenge at its Cedar Rapids plant where its aging pallet flow and pushback rack systems could no longer handle increased volumes and heavier loads. Since expanding the building was not an option, the company needed to safely optimize its existing vertical warehouse space to avoid using trailers for storage and eliminate the potential need for third-party storage. To address this, General Mills partnered with vendor RMH Systems for a storage system update.

RMH Systems implemented an integrated pallet flow and pushback rack system from Steel King. The solution included safety enhancements like protective railing and an anti-backup "pawl" system. As a result, RMH Systems helped General Mills increase storage capacity by 42 percent, add 24 percent more inventory items, and free up floor space, all while improving operational safety and efficiency for the long term.
