Vision Impaired pupils accessing the curriculum and learning with digital support enabled by RM Education

RM Education worked with Uddingston Grammar School, home to South Lanarkshire Council’s Vision Impairment Team, to improve digital access for pupils with vision impairments. The school needed a way to make iPads easier to log into and manage, secure 60GB of curriculum content, and provide better access to assistive technologies such as magnification, text-to-speech, braille devices, and braille printers across the school.

RM Education implemented mobile device management for automatic iPad network access and app updates, moved the pupils’ digital learning content to a secure location on the school’s CC4 server, and rolled out accessibility and assistive software across the school’s computers. RM Education also configured braille printer software and created a new certificate-based Wi-Fi network for braille devices, giving pupils seamless connectivity. The result was a more consistent learning experience and improved access to the curriculum and learning for vision-impaired pupils across the school.
