Transitioning to Remote Learning with Google Classroom at the Sentamu Academy Learning Trust

RM Education worked with Sentamu Academy Learning Trust, a group of five academies in Hull, to help it move rapidly into remote learning when COVID-19 closed schools. The Trust had already been using Google Classroom in some subjects, but most students had forgotten their login details and many families lacked reliable internet access or enough devices to work from home.

RM Education helped the Trust prepare for lockdown, reset and reissue student usernames and passwords, and set up a dedicated email contact for parents and students to handle access issues. The Trust rolled out Google Classroom across around 90% of the school, and with support from the Department for Education laptop and 4G router scheme it was able to provide remote access to around half of students without connectivity, reducing daily password requests from 30-40 to only a handful.
